Maldives contemporary art exhibition Unveiling Visions – 2019

The Maldivian contemporary art exhibition “Unveiling Visions 2019” organized by the Maldivian Artist Community (MAC) was inaugurated by Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali. The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Yumna Maumoon.

This is the third iteration of the “Unveiling Visions” exhibition that has been held since 2016. The exhibition provides Maldivian youth with opportunities to showcase their work and their artistic skills. The exhibitions have been embraced by artists as a chance to explore different mediums, themes and techniques.

Taking place at the National Art Gallery, the chance to take part in this exhibition is open to all artists. 55 artists are taking part in this year’s exhibition. As per the information provided by M.A.C, the purpose of the exhibition provides artists with new opportunities in the industry and encourages them to go further.  

During the exhibition, there will be activities such as live art sessions and artist talks where experienced artists in the industry share their stories and experiences with younger artists. Artists taking part in the exhibition under 30 years of age are eligible for “Most Vibrant Artists” award. This year the most vibrant artists of “Unveiling Visions 2019” are, Hassan Raaiz Siraj, Aishath Shureyla Rasheed and Mohamed Razzan Abdullah. Minister Yumna Maumoon spoke at the ceremony about the work undertaken by the ministry to provide artists with opportunities. She also thanked Maldivian Artist Community for their contribution to artists and the arts sector.

This exhibition will be taking place from 3rd to 7th August from 9:00 to 18:00 and 20:00 to 22:00. Interested parties can purchase tickets to the exhibition at the lobby of the National Art Gallery.
